Working as a trucker might not seem like a physically demanding job on the surface, but several parts of the job make it difficult to stay healthy. Between the long hours, lack of access to fresh food, and no opportunity for exercise when driving, it can be hard for a trucker to stay healthy. If you are working in the industry, there are some things that you can do to protect and improve your health, even if you're driving.
We know this is hard to do when most of your food comes from drive-thrus and truck stops, but there are ways to do it. Replace high-calorie and salty snacks with fruits and nuts. At mealtimes, look for a meal that offers some type of vegetables with it. Fresh veggies are ideal, but even steamed or baked vegetables such as broccoli or zucchini are better than nothing.
When you take a break, try to go for a walk or short run. At night, try to perform a series of exercises to maintain muscle strength and flexibility. If you're not sure what to do, then talk to our chiropractor to learn what exercises will benefit you.
Hours of sitting can gradually force parts of the spine out of alignment, and only a chiropractor will be able to put the musculoskeletal system back into proper alignment. Try to see our chiropractor at least once every three months or ideally once a month.
If you are based in the Sparks area and work as a truck driver, give our chiropractic office a call today for a personalized treatment plan. Our chiropractor can help you get the care you deserve to feel your best while driving.
